Lead Guitar, Singer, Songwrtier
Kev has been a player, singer/songwriter, teacher, producer, band consultant, and performer for decades. Kev has over the years earned the respect from his peers and the young up and comers alike. He has survived through years of an ever changing and evolving musical world, rolled with the punches, and lived to tell about it. His guitar speaks through the ghosts of influence, blues, pain, and sheer gut wrenching tone! At an early age Kev began his musical journey on the drums. That red sparkle kit from JC Penneys was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen, compared to the pots, pans, buckets, and wooden spoons he was used to. But it didn’t last long…Kev was a huge Rolling Stones fan and after seeing Mick Jagger play the harmonica, Kev dedicated himself to it.
The harmonica opened a brand new world called the “blues” and players like Jimmie Reed, James Cotton, Junior Wells, and Carey Bell heavily influenced Kevs playing style. Music began to change and reinvent itself with the insurgence of Psychedelic bands like Cream and Hendrix, while a few years later, the Rolling Stones added their fist new member; guitarist Mick Taylor. Kev had dabbled with the acoustic guitar on and off for years, but as the black blues influence began to spill over into white guitarists like Johnny Winter, Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, and Rory Gallagher, Kev played his first electric and never looked back. Guitarists became bigger than life to the whole world, and the likes of Leslie West, Billy Gibbons, Roy Buchanan, Jimmy Page, and Mark Farner become the host of his influential fathers. Rock and Roll bands began to explode onto the scene, and the vinyl spun without end, day in and day out as Kev listened intently to every guitar lick, mimicking his heroes and dreaming of a rock and roll lifestyle… and future.
Southern Rock music changed everything! When Kev was turned on to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Blackfoot, and the Allman Brothers something snapped musically and sent him on a whirlwind of discovery that changed him forever. He was inspired to take songwriting seriously and began to learn a brand new type of guitar playing from these newfound heroes. To this day Kev will tell you that his perfect dream guitar style would be that of Mick Taylor, Leslie West, and Allen Collins! He continues to “work on it”.
Kevs rockin, Blues and Southern based picking evolved from the combination of not just the guitar heroes from his past, but the era of music itself, back in the day when music only had one name; Rock and Roll!
Kev is the best , if you get the chance to work with him.....take it!

“The man I know as Kevin Wright is probably the most accomplished musician I have every worked with so far in my music career. My band, The Projection, is currently recording our debut album with Kev at Funtown Recording Studio. I have to say, I've never met anyone so caring about other people's music. It doesn't matter what kind of music you’re playing: Rap, Metal, Rock, Punk, Country, Pop, Blues, Classic Rock, or Indie—Kev can do it all! He has an ear for everything. If you’re working on a Blues song, he’s thinking about the blues. If you’re working on a Punk song, he’s thinking about Punk. When we first started our project, he began producing the band in a way I have never seen. He tied up all of the loose ends in our songs. The puzzle became complete with Kevin. I personally had a lot of trouble with a few acoustic tracks that I had written. I was never really taught much about acoustic and how to play it right. Kevin could hear this in the songs. He took time out of his day, sat down with me, and taught me how to play those songs the right way. He didn't charge me a thing for this valuable lesson. After teaching me a few tricks, I never thought it would be possible for me to play acoustic like John Mayer! I was so amazed! I went home in awe that night after recording those acoustic tracks. After working with Kev for a few months now, I realize what an extensive background he has in music. He has played every type of music there is and traveled around the country doing just that! Kev is a real musician, and has been “at it” his whole life. So if you’re serious about your recording project and want to have a barrel of laughs while doing it, Kev’s your man! I can't begin to think about how many times I laughed the hours away recording with this guy. By the time this project is complete, The Projection will walk out of the studio with pride, and we’ll definitely feel like professionals after everything we have learned from Kev! Rock On!” Jake - Guitarist / Vocals / Songwriter The Projection www.myspace.com/theprojection

I have an acoustic duo called The AcoustiBobs, and we went to Kevin's FunTown Studio to record a demo CD. I've known Kevin for a long time and for a long time I've known him as a great musician, singer, songwriter and performer. What I did not realize is how wonderful and knowledgeable he is as a producer, arranger and recording engineer. In a relatively short time he has mastered the art of recording artists in all genres of music to a great capacity. The AcoustiBobs were so happy with the tracks that we laid down at Kevin's studio that we decided to make it our first official CD release rather than just a demo to acquire gigs. His no nonsense approach and complete understanding of what sounds we were striving for was quite impressive. His lifelong love of all styles of music is evident with every recording project he undertakes. As an added bonus, his overall sense of humor, the calming atmosphere, and great vibe of his studio made it easy and fun. .
