Opinions may vary on this, but when I go out to see a band perform live, I’m more impressed to see a smaller 5 piece drum kit, and the drummer that knows how to use it, than a massive uncountable set that dwarfs the drummer in cymbals and gongs. Kenny Gerk from the Righteous Hillbillies represents the former. He’s the drummer behind a 4 piece that puts it, and keeps it all thunderously together, and rightfully so; Kenny’s been banging on pots and pans and desktops since he was 10 years old. His formal training began at the age of 11 and he’s been playing ever since, widening his percussive horizons by learning congas and timbales.

One of Kens musical goals is to master the tablas before he’s too old to play them! His more recent musical endeavors before the Hillbillies have been, drumming for the Led Zeppelin tribute band “In The Light” and the blues band “Revelator” (who took pre WWII traditional songs and revamped them to rock-out!) Kenny says the Revelator project is the one he’s been most proud of to date. He has cut tracks with Revelator, and has opened for bands such as The Bo Deans, Probably Vampires, and Michael McDermott. When the Righteous Hillbillies perform, compliments fly through the air about the super tight rhythm section, which Kenny is proud to be a leading member of. He would also like you all to know that he’s trying his hardest to be more and more like a true musical American hillbilly.

Kenny for this time being...brings the thunder to the twang. Guaranteed! Kenny says, "What sets this band apart from the others is its professionalism. Each member is committed to his instrument as well as the whole band. I also enjoy what each member's background bring to the table. There are so many influences that each of us bring to the songs. It’s truly amazing”
